On vacation

It’s so nice to not have to worry about work. We are finally on vacation. I guess my body isn’t used to the two hour time change yet because it’s six am here. I have been awake for an hour. Anyway, we landed at San Diego yesterday afternoon. Our flight was delayed for about forty minutes because one if the flight attendants was missing. We checked into our hotel- Sofia Hotel. The rooms here are itty bitty, but it is super cute and modern. Parking though kinds sucks. The daily rate is 28/day. I think we are going to try to find street parking. We will see. So yesterday we walked around the gaslamp district. Most of what we saw were restaurants. Too bad Dallas doesn’t have sonething like that. Anyhow. We had dinner at Los Puertos. The food was similar to a taco diner. It was good but not amazing. Today I think we are either going to the zoo or the beach. Yesterday I had this really awful back/stomach cramp. It hurt so bad to just walk. I am not sure where it came from but it just happened suddenly when I woke up yesterday morning. Ugh. I hope I dont feel that way all week.

Living Life on the weekends

It seems I only make updates on the weekends. I can’t believe Sunday is half over. Yuck. Yesterday Brian and I went to go see The Dark Knight. It was a very good movie, very dark, but not too violent. I guess it’s because it’s PG13. I think if it was rated R it may have been a better movie. I’m not sure I like Maggie Gyllenhal’s as Rachel, but everyone else did a fantastic movie. Unfortunately it seemed the movie was more about Harvey Dent than it was about Batman himself.

Anyway, other than the movie, we spent the majority of the weekend chilling. I baked Brian his birthday cake today, and tonight we’ll probably grill or something for his early birthday dinner. I need to pack up for my trip to Richmond tomorrow. I feel completely unprepared, although I’m not sure what else I can do. Most of it is going to be talking anyway.

Since Matt and Josie are coming into town next weekend, I’ve been getting the laundry done and washing all the sheets in the guest room. I hate laundry. It’s NEVER ending. Anyway, there’s more tidying up to do, but I guess I can work on it when I get back.

Certified PMP

I took the exam this morning, and I am now a certified Project Manager. Now I can put PMP next to my name :-)

PMP Exam Scheduled

I totally can’t focus. I decided to schedule my PMP exam now that my application has passed the audit process. Now I’m in total freak out mode. I am having the worst test anxiety ever. It’s been 4 years since I’ve taken a real exam which is why I’m freaking out. UGH. Shame on me for putting it off. So it’ll be 3 whole months since my last class on test day. I hope my brain still remembers.

Anyway, the test is scheduled for March 11th at 8:00am.

Stupid PMI

So 2 seconds after paying for my exam, I see that I can’t schedule it for another 72 hours. WTF. Then 2 seconds after that it states that my application is being audited. WTF again. ARGGG. Such a tedious process and so lame. So now I have to track down old colleagues or bosses and get them to verify my work experience, send in my transcript, blah blah. Who knew I would be randomly selected. This blows. I guess I should still study regardless of being delayed another 2 weeks.

Jury Duty

I had my first jury duty yesterday. I was part of the randomly selected group that was to be interviewed for the actual jury duty selection. It was a DWI case, how boring. Should I be offended that they didn’t pick me? I was first in line and I always had to respond first.

  • Does the state need to have proof of how much alcohol is consumed in order for you to convict this person? Yes.
  • Do you think that if the state can prove that the person was mentally or physically impaired that this will help you convict this person? Yes.
  • But you just said you had to have absolute proof of how much alcohol this person consumed. Oh… uhhhhh. Well I change my mind.

Haha, I wonder why they didn’t pick me. It was an interesting experience nonetheless. I’ve never actually been in a real court before or see the lawyer’s interactions.

So I got to come home after lunch and work at home. Reesey was so good, she basically snuggled up next to me while I was working on my laptop. I have to say that working from home definitely has its perks. I had time to make a proper/healthy dinner (mmm, chicken tortilla soup). Ok, that’s all I did.

Anyway, on a different note, we have so many party games at home. The Wii, Rockband, XBox Scene It?. I think we need to have a game night.

Need Sleep

So Brian flew down to Austin for work last night which left me alone at home. Is this the first time I’m home alone in the new house? I can’t remember. Anyway, I couldn’t sleep. It felt like I wasn’t sleeping in my own bed just because Brian wasn’t home. I finally dozed off at 2am. Should’ve let Reesey sleep in the bed. At least she let me sleep in until my alarm went off, or maybe I just don’t hear her in the wee hours of the morning.

I have dinner in the crockpot, so once I get home, I’m gonna chill and possible sleep.

Daily Musings

They’re turning the Lovely Bones into a movie. The cast seems pretty awesome, so I hope it turns out well. I never finished the book. The whole rape thing just didn’t do it for me. Besides I was on my honeymoon then. I think I need to go back and finish it. Ryan Gosling is going to be in, ahhh so dreamy.

This is rather random or early, but I’m in search of a good Christmas Tree. And yes I’m all for the fake stuff, why chop down real trees that end up being in the trash later on?? Stupid people. Anyway, I’m not sure where we can find the best deal on one. I known we can wait until after Christmas, but I want a good one now! I’m thinking a 9 ft tree would be ok (YIPES, it’s 199 bucks at Home Depot). Maybe that’s too tall? I can settle with a 7.5 foot one. I also need a good tree skirt. Or maybe we just stick to the current one and wait for the after Christmas sale…

So I was thinking of a new vacation, perhaps around New Years. Then I realized, that’s probably the busiest time here at work, so maybe around February. We get Washington’s Bday off which is February 18th. That’s perfect timing since it’s right around Valentine’s day. Hmmm. I’ve always wanted to go skiing. Brian thinks it’s silly because “we don’t ski”. I think there’s an opportunity to do stuff at least once. Who knows, we could be pros (or not). Anyway, I guess we’ll have to think about it a little more.
