OK, no more spicy food

Just had a Chick Fila Spicy wrap. Halfway through eating, the heartburn or pain starts shooting up. Feel like dying right now. I feel like an idiot pacing around my aisle at work. Someone offered to get my yogurt or ice cream to cool it down. :-p

Insurance Costs

Just got around to looking into our out of pocket costs. According to the UHC medical estimator, my OB and her partners are apparently the top 5 most expensive doctors in the DFW area. Not Frisco or Plano, DALLAS. This baby better be delivered with gold dust on her. Thank goodness for good insurance coverage.

Sciatic Nerve Pain??

I primarily lay on my right side even though the books say laying on your left side is better. It’s just that I had trained my body to lay on the other side. Anyhow, I’m not sure if it’s from being in class all day Saturday or from how I sleep, but I had a pain shooting down the back of my right rear down to my calf. I had to pull out the handheld massager and rub it out. I am hoping it’s not a sciatic nerve pain flare up. It’s better today, but then again I got up and did some yoga stretches. I hope to make a daily habit even if it takes 15 minutes to stretch out each morning. I was hoping to get by this pregnancy without dealing with too many issues. I guess I can’t complain if this is all I have to worry about so far.

97 more days to go…

Quick 24 Week Update

Numbers are looking good.

Baby’s heartbeat was at 140. Did my glucose screening test and iron count test and they both came back normal. I’m all clear for gestational diabetes or anemia.

Now I just need to work on sleeping well…

Week 20

It’s been an uneventful week. Other than a crazy work schedule last week, things are going swimmingly. Baby was moving around on a set schedule (usually in the afternoon). It’s always a delight to feel those tiny movements. This week however, the the schedule is more sporadic. I’ve been trying to do more stretches and yoga in the mornings to alleviate the back achiness which has helped tremendously.

One thing I have noticed is sleeping on my back. I didn’t realize sleeping on the side was difficult, I’d wake up in the mornings with an aching shoulder, but if I sleep on my back, I start to get a sore feeling on my lower back which then forces me to toss and turn all night. Why must the body be so difficult? Fortunately all of this is minor compared to what other women experience. I can’t imagine.

On the diet front, I’ve been trying to eat more leafy greens. According to the web, the baby is now developing taste buds, so I need to start eating more veggies and food that’s good for me. I’ve been loading up on fruit for the most part instead of trying to snack on sweets during the day. So far doing good, other than the cookies I made for work over the weekend. Thank goodness those are all gone. If only I can squeeze in that 4 servings of dairy they recommend. Milk is gross. The only yogurt I can stand is Greek yogurt, and that’s only if I feel like having it.

Anyway, I’ hope the rest of the week goes just as well…

Update on Week 16 appt

Everything is good so far. Baby’s heartbeat is 150. No protein or glucose directed in the urine. Only gained 5 lbs so far. Recap of the last screening showed we had the lowest chance of having birth defects. Got more blood drawn today for 2nd trimester screening.

Sonogram scheduled for August 3rd and we’ll find out sex of baby. How exciting!

9 miles this weekend?

Oh. I’m still going to make it a personal goal to run 9 miles straight this weekend. If I can accomplish that, then I’ll be for sure ready for the half marathon!
