This will be a quick one since its only 4 am and I just fed her. It’s been 8 hours since the last feeding. I think if I had fed her at 11pm she would have slept through the night.
And yes she fussed again during dinner last night. I’m guessing dinner needs to start a little later than 7:30 bc she was hungry.

Holy moly, she went over 7 hours without eating. I heard her stir at 2am and started feeding her then, but she was totally not interested. I wonder if she would have slept through the night. The same thing happened last night at 2am. Maybe next time, I leave her in there until she starts crying so she’s actually eats.
Based on the random people online, feelings vary tremendously by baby. I guess we will find out soon enough if she’s growing the appropriate amount. She’s definitely not fat but still chunky in some areas (particularly the cheeks ;)).

The last few days, or rather several days, Baby E has been fussing right around dinner time between 6:30-8:30. She eats at 5 or 5:30, and we will play with her until 6:30. Then when we try to put her down for a nap, she fusses the entire time forcing one of us to sit with her while the other scarfs down dinner so that we can take turns holding her.
I’m not sure what causes the fussing , but I think my milk supply is at its lowest during the 5 pm feeding so maybe she’s still hungry? Who knows. It’s made dinner time quite stressful. I guess that’s why people put their kids down to bed at 7. It’s just to early for us. But then again, by the time we are done eating, cleaning, and putting her to bed at 8:30, I’m completely exhausted and want to go to bed myself.
Tomorrow, I think I’ll try to give her a bottle at that time to see how much milk she’s getting and if it’s related to get being hungry.
Who said parenthood was easy….

I’m always concerned about whether or not I’m feeding her enough or too much. Based on our last checkup we are doing just fine. But that was based on a feeding schedule.
Now I’m feeding on demand and she’s only eating 6 times a day. 2am, 6am, 10am, 1pm, 5pm, 8:30pm. If she’s eating at least 4 oz per feeding , then we are ok. But I’m not sure. I wish I had a baby scale to track her weight gain. Lord knows we are tracking everything else. I had ordered one, but Brian thought it was a frivolous purchase, so we cancelled it.
Now I’m concerned that she’s not eating enough. She’s not hungry and I appreciate the extra sleep at night. Maybe I will try to add in another feeding in the morning. I really hope she’s growing the appropriate amount…

We hit a huge milestone today. She smiled on cue. I went over to say hello and tickled her and this is the reaction I get. I can’t wait to see more and actually hear laughter.

Baby didn’t eat until 8:30 last night so she didnt fall asleep until 9:30. Then she woke again at 1 and 4am. Typically she eats at 3 and 6am which isn’t do bad.
I hope we get back on track tonight. Here she is grumpy after putting her back to sleep after the 4am feeding.
