Traveling

I have to make a call into the doctors office tomorrow. I forgot to ask her if it’s safe to travel for thanksgiving which would be my 35th week. I’m not due to see her until the Monday after the holiday.

Hoping it will be ok. But I’m wondering if we should bring my hospital bags, etc.

Week 34

I thought the little bit of adrenaline I got last week would last till the end. But finding that after running around and working around the house really exhausting. So glad it’s the weekend so I can take a nap during the day. Unfortunately it’s already 6 pm and I have to start on dinner at some point.

Speaking of food, I think I’ve gotten to the point where eating out is boring me. We can never decide on where to go and everything is meh. I miss experimenting in the kitchen. While I do try to cook throughout the week, most of it is quick fix meals. I went grocery shopping today so we can have homecooked meals all week. I just need to do a better job of planning the weekly menu a so that my produce doesn’t go to waste.

Tonight’s menu: Gnocchi and spinach with pesto sauce and grilled chicken.

Anyway, here’s what we spent today working on. I’m ready to be done with the nursery. Who knew hanging stuff and sticking decals on the wall could take so long. We still have to replace the ceiling fan and put the glider together.

Week 33 checkup

Nothing extraordinary during this visit. It actually took less than 30 minutes. Baby’s heart rate is 140. I’ve gained 19 lbs. They drew more blood to test my iron count. She asked if I’ve experienced any contractions yet. I told her I don’t really know. I may have but again I don’t have any past experience.

So for the next few weeks I’ll be looking for tightening in the belly.

We are hoping to hang some of the nursery decorations this weekend. I’ve already received a few gifts in the mail. I’m looking forward to making homemade baby food in the near future. How exciting.

Yesterday we did a tour of a nearby daycare. It wasn’t as scary as I thought. We’ve got two more on the list before we decide.

I’m holding off on picking a pediatrician until we know which insurance company we are being switched to next year. How inconvenient. My OB better be covered. Why must insurance companies change their rates every year forcing companies to switch every so often.

Anyway here’s another preview from our photo session. Brian’s not happy with the fact that they don’t have digital proofs. What decade is this??

Here’s one of the crib we got this week.

Maternity pictures

I wish we had digital images to share but oh well. Here’s a preview of our photo session from the other day. Can’t wait to get actual prints from them.

1.5 months to go

I couldn’t feel any better despite the scares I had the other day. I feel rested, I don’t feel achy, I’m alert. Let’s hope this continues. My belly feels really firm at this point. I can’t imagine getting bigger. I do need to work on my posture. I feel like I’m overarching my back. I’m hoping my chest soreness goes completely away next week so that I can resume walking or yoga.

I finally figured out my time off situation. Based on company rules, it looks like I’ll have to take off beginning on 12/14. Fine by me. Unfortunately, I have to use most of my accrued vacation days before the end of the year, otherwise I lose it. And technically my 12 week leave doesn’t start until the day of birth. Sooo, I get to take an early vacation. Let’s hope this baby comes slightly early so I don’t feel like I’m wasting vacation days, and that will shorten the unpaid time during my leave. I guess I’ll spend that time christmas shopping, cooking meals to freeze, and whatever else I need to do.

In other news, the baby’s nursery set is scheduled to be delivered next week. Yippee!! We finally get to put the room together. We’ll have to clean it up first since it looks like a paint company exploded in there. Painting is no fun, but at least we got 98% of it done. We will have to do some minor touch up if we feel like it…

I leave you with pictures of my fur babies.

Another emergency

Early yesterday morning at around 4:30am, I woke up feeling a slight trickle. It was a weird sensation, so I got to go to the bathroom thinking maybe my water broke?? It turned out to be blood, and lots of it. I called Brian, told him we needed to call the doctor to see what the heck was going on. The doctor didn’t seem too concerned, but told me to come in first thing in the morning at 8:30. A few minutes later, I passed a huge blood clot (gross I know), and we made another call to the doctor. She told us to go immediately to labor and delivery. Sooo, at 5am in the morning, we got dressed, tried not to panic and headed to the hospital. They strapped me to a baby monitor and wanted to see if I was experiencing any contractions. The baby’s activity was normal, there were no contractions, and the bleeding stopped. The doctor showed up at around 8:30, and mentioned that there wasn’t really a need to do any further testing. She told me to go home and rest.

It was quite the scare and it’s been the most eventful week.

Physically, I feel fine. No real aches or pains. Chest is feeling better but still a bit sore if I lay on my left side. I’ve been sleeping at least 7 hours a night, albeit uncomfortably.

Let’s hope nothing new or strange pops up. I’m hoping NOT to make any more trips to the hospital between now and Christmas Day.
