Traffic woes

Seriously, what genius decided to make a highway with lights. I think I waited at least 5 minutes at each of the lights on 121. That’s about 3 red lights before it was my turn to go through. I know I’m complaining a lot about the traffic, and I shouldn’t because I knew it would be bad. But seriously. I can’t wait until 121 is done. And why the heck does it have to be a tollway? Can’t people just drive without having to pay for the friggin pavement they drive on. ARG, I mean isn’t that what our car registration fees for??

Ok VENT over.

My first day on the job was to be expected. Very light. I can’t say claim that I’m lost only because everything is way over my head. My week is packed with meetings so that will at least give me some insight as to what I’m supposed to be doing.

Speaking of work, Brian’s been busy busy with his job. He worked all weekend and had to work till midnight last night. ARG. I want my husband back!

Oh one more thing worth mentioning, I just paid off 1 of my student loan. WEEEE, it’s such a good feeling. That’s 1 out of 4. I’m only less than 200 bucks from paying off another one. I might as well just pay that one off as well. Unfortunately though, I still have about 5 more years before I can pay off the bulk of my loan.

A week overdue

I’ve done everything today to put off work. Weeding, hedge trimming, cooking, laundry and now blogging. I haven’t made a decent update in awhile, and who knows what free time I would have at the new job. Speaking of which I need to look up the best way to get to work. Driving to Lewisville is not going to be fun. Everyone’s been giving me tips on which way to go, but I think tomorrow I’m just going to go down 121 all the way. I know it won’t be fun.

Anyway, this post is a week overdue, but I think it’s worthy of one. Sharon and Gene’s wedding. What a wedding. I woke up Saturday morning and drove into Richardson to pick up both Robert and Yung. I was totally dreading the drive down to Houston. I personally haven’t driven that kind of distance in so long, Brian usually does the driving. It wasn’t actually too bad, and got there at around 12:30 or 1. We even had time to stop by Walmart to buy some cheap wine to sneak into the wedding. By cheap, I mean Arbor Mist cheap. The entire weekend we were there, Robert kept claiming that Houston is a “hot mess”. I have to agree with him, it sucked! It takes us 40 minutes to get anywhere. On top of that, it was a really hot weekend. We all met up at Hanh’s house where we were bunking for the night, and got ready and headedoff to the church. I’m not sure where the church was in relation to all of Houston, but again it was far. :-p Anyway, we got there just in time to sit down as the ceremony was about to start. I think overall there were 400 or so guests. I have to say that the ceremony was beautiful. Not necessarily the decor, although the flowers were pretty, but the entire half hour or so was dedicated to the couple’s love of God. Their selection of music were all hymnals and their written vows were so sweet. Every teared up near the end when the couple were hugging the parents and grandparents.

We then headed to the hotel where the reception was held. There were some great hor d’oeurves and by the time we were done with those, I think some of us were already full. The reception started at 6, and I had the biggest steak dinner I’ve had in a while. Robert and Yung’s table busted open their bottle of Arbor Mist and of course got in trouble for it. :-) It was fun just seeing everyone again, particularly the people I haven’t seen since high school, like Kelvin and Joyuan. The night ended with everyone on the dance floor. Us seven girls and Robert were the only group left at the reception/dance floor, literally. We definitely partied it up. After nixing the idea of going to a club we all headed back to Hanh’s house to play board games till the wee hours of the night. The weekend ended with dim sum at Fung’s Kitchen.

Here are some pictures I got that actually turned out good:

It’s my last day here

It’s my last day of work at HH. It’s pretty sad to leave here since I’ve enjoyed working with everyone. On top of that, everyone’s been really nice and supportive of me leaving. They all keep saying I can come back anytime. I guess they do like me here ;-)

Anyway, I am very excited about the new position. I’ll be a Project Manager within the Client Services of the IT group at a company in Lewisville. It’s going to be very fast paced, but I think I’m up for the challenge. It’s certainly the direction I’m wanting to get into at this stage in my career. I even got my PMP course book, I have to read the first 3 chapters before our first class in two weeks. I started out with the first 6 last night and nearly fell asleep. So instead, I watched Babel. Great movie by the way.

Well, I’ve cleaned out my desk, transitioned all my clients and I finished my last powerpoint for a client onsite meeting I’ll be missing next week. :-( I’m done for today.

Poor neglected blog

sandg.jpgI apparently only update once a week, and it’s usually on Mondays. Anyway, I don’t have much time today to update, but will post more details tonight, promise…

This weekend was great. Spent the weekend in Houston for Sharon and Gene’s wedding sans my own husband, hrmph. They make such a great couple. Anyway, it’s much easier to recap with pictures, so I’ll do all that tonight. :-) Anyway, here’s a picture of the happy couple I stole from someone else’s facebook.
