Home Shopping

426005189_8f792b6be2.jpgToday was our first trip with our real estate agent. I was a bit nervous at first because I didn’t know what to expect from her nor the houses she picked. She definitely had the houses we picked on her list which is a great thing. But more importantly she was very great to work with. So she was going to take us to see 15 homes, but I think we were worn out by the 7th or 8th home. We found one that we really loved though in Allen. It wasn’t perfect but was pretty close. The only downside I thought were that the secondary bedrooms were a bit to small, the kitchen was a bit cramp because of the center island and the backyard was smaller than what we saw in the previous homes. But, they layout was exactly what we were looking for, it had all the upgraded fixtures and countertops and Brian loves it. It’s definitely plenty of room to grow into. It’s a 4 bedroom, 2 living, 2.5 baths, and 2 garages up in Allen. What was really striking about the house was the drive up appeal. It’s in a very nice neighborhood and close to the highway. The only downside still is that it’s in Allen which I think is a bit too far north.

Anyway, what we’ve realized so far is that we do not like older homes, there are just too many features that are unappealing, such as the brass fixtures, old siding, etc.

We did find a house that I thought was nice, although it was too plain and not as striking as the one above. This one is in Murphy, still a bit far, but it would probably be the same commute as the home in Allen. It’s bigger though, but very boring. The neighborhood wasn’t as nice. I think we have to drive around both communities to see what the surroundings are like. We’ll also have to compare the school districts and such.

While we really liked the home in Allen, this is still our first trip. Hopefully Mary Ann, our agent knows what we’re looking for and can find something better. We’re hoping to make a second trip with her this week.

I would post better pictures, but I don’t trust the general public with what we’ve found. Some weirdo may recognize that house or try to “steal” it from us. (actually, i didn’t want to go through the process of resizing them :0))

Oh dear…

Check out this article. The AP contacted me after reading my blog, I said sure why not, there’s nothing wrong with post wedding blues every bride I know have experienced it. I think it was early October when we were interviewed, so a month after the wedding.

Anyway, we’ve been doing good, and always have been. It was just strange going back to the normal life after planning something for so long.

There’s so many exciting things to look forward to in our lives, such as buying a home, having kids, building a business (who knows), and learning from each other. Anyway, I think Connie did a great job on the article…

Home Lending

We got our good faith estimate back. Looks like we’re in very good shape to getting whatever loan we need. Now we just need to get started. Weeee. At least we know where we are.

Home Buying

So yesterday, we drove over to Wylie to look at some new homes. The models we looked at were standard models that we’ve seen before and the pricing was in our range, but we figured it was a bit too far east. The neighborhood was also of course cookie cutter and just as bad as the Frisco/McKinney area.

I guess we’re still looking into buying a resell home, but hopefully we can find one with all the stuff we want. We just don’t want to have to live too far away from work and civilization. I guess the stuff you see online is just some of the houses on the market, we’ll definitely have to get a realtor. Brian’s going to contact one of his clients to start the discussion.

Hopefully we’ll find a house by the end of April. If after we’ve reached that time frame and still haven’t progressed, I guess we’ll have to either stay in our current apt for another year or find other living arrangements.

I’m nervous about it all. Nervous that we’re moving too slow. Nervous that we won’t find a house we like and will keep looking for another year. Nervous because we’re actually serious this time and it’s a huge step… EEEK. But surely it’s not that difficult?? There are people younger than us or people with less money that have gone through this process. Why couldn’t we?

Lazy weekend

So we didn’t do a single thing this weekend. I have never felt so apathetic before. We didn’t even finish laundry. At least Brian cleaned the office, good for him. I guess after the horrible week I just didn’t feel like being productive. I hope this week isn’t as bad.

Anyway that’s all the update I have…
