Weekend update
Posted in Weekends by Christina on January 8th, 2007
We actually didn’t do much this weekend. Went to see the Pursuit of Happyness on Friday. The movie was good. Brian said it wasn’t as heart wrenching as he thought it would be, but I thought certain parts of it was sad. Maybe it was just seeing good ole Will Smith cry that made me cry. Note: I do not cry in movies, but I did with this one.
Then on Saturday, we went up to Willowbend to exchange a belt for Brian and walked around the mall. It’s kinda sad to see the place so dead. Then again, how many upscale retail malls do you need in this town. I wish we lived closer to Northpark, I heart Northpark. We came out with a belt and that was it. Although there wasn’t anything we both needed. We also stopped at Target because we wanted to organize our coat/shoe closet. We bought a shoe shelf but it was too big, so now I have to take it back.
On Sunday, I went to Walmart because I decided I’d rather get a hanging shoe organizer instead of a shelf. I then realized how much I hated Walmart. Everytime I go in that store, I feel like I have to shower when I get home. This was a nice Walmart too, the one on Bush and Coit. But seriously, people were all over the place, it was crowded and loud. There’s crap of boxes everywhere. And I went into the self checkout lane, but the lady behind me was all over my personal space, like literally standing next to me. I just wanted to tell her to back off. Ugh. The other time I tried to go to Walmart (I needed some sponge and cleaning supplies) the parking lot was just crazy busy, I just decided to go to Walgreens instead. I’d rather pay 2 dollars more for something than mess with that.
Anyway, before my Walmart trip, Brian and I went to an open house. There’s a house for sale that’s right across from our complex. I could easily be a 5 minute walk. It was a such a nice house. All it needed was an update on the appliances and fixtures. However the price was about 30K more than what it should be. The only thing nice about it was the hardwood floors and plantation shutters. The yard was TINY and the bedrooms and kitchen was small. I know we want to live closer to work, but it just seems like all the houses in this area just doesn’t fit what I’m looking for and it would take a lot of work and money to renovate something, particularly since neither of us are that useful. Oh well, we’ll keep looking. I want to be out of the apt by the time our lease ends.
