Christmas is over

What a fine Christmas it was. Not only did I/we get a buncho stuff, we got stuff I didn’t expect. I gave my mother-in-law a list because she requested it. I wrote down some stuff only expecting to get a couple things, but not only did I get ALL of it, but then some. What a great MIL I have.

I felt not being able to get Brian what he wanted this year, a Wii or a PS3, but I looked and looked and of course they’re sold out everywhere. So this year his gifts are pretty lame. That’s ok though, since all the “electronic” equipment I buy him gets shoved in the closet anyway, like his WACOM tablet that I tried to pawn off the other day to a coworker. Hrmph. I am never buying you what you want, EVER, you hear?? I am still bitter about the bike! It’s sitting in the office, the tires all flat, unused and unhappy.

Anyway, unfortunately I had to be back into work today, and what a busy day it was. I was hoping to leave early too, but of course that didn’t happen. I hope the rest of the week is slow. Now that the holidays are over, it’s time for to get back into shape. My “skinny” jeans are no longer loose. Must hit gym and be on strict diet. I’m hoping to be even more successful this time around than I was earlier this year, especially since I don’t have a big motivator. For those of you looking to get in shape, you should look into MyFoodDiary.com (which I’ve been using or was using) or SparkPeople.com. Both are great tools.

Anyway, I hope I sleep well enough to wake up early tomorrow to hit the gym… ick.

Welcome to Our Married Life

Our Married Life screenshotAs you can tell the Our Wedding blog has moved to a new domain and features a full redesign. The old site featured a customized WordPress theme from Ian Main but this one is completely designed and coded by me for my wonderful wife Christina. The main content area features a slightly transparent background that allows the beautiful floral illustration to show through for users of Firefox and Internet Explorer 7 (though I haven’t done much testing in IE7 yet.) There will be a few tweaks and changes over the next couple of weeks before I’m completely satisfied with the site.

The old site was set up initially to provide details for people about our wedding, but turned into a lot more as Christina wrote a lot about the behind the scenes of planning a wedding. All the old posts and comments have been imported and are available here at the new domain. This new site will be about our life as a married couple and will might feature more posts from me as well as from Christina.

Please let me know in the comments if you have any issues with the design or functionality of the site. Again, welcome to Our Married Life.

Early Release = No

Well dangit, we all were dismissed early at like 1. But guess what, I get to stay. I have to wait on files from clients, then just a few minutes ago, a client reported an issue, so I gotta stick around till someone fixes it. I wanna go home!!! It’s Christmas, everyone should go home!

3 more days till Christmas

Woohoo…

What’s your favorite Christmas movie? Mine is Love Actually. Love that movie and the Mariah Carey song that’s in it – All I want for Christmas.

Yesterday, I wrapped all of Brian’s gifts. I hope he likes them. I had no clue what to buy him since he nixed my grand idea – DirecTV.

Also, yesterday my coworkers and I went to go have Pho for lunch since it was raining and cold. I realized I haven’t had pho in forever, it was good.

I also promised another coworker that I would go to the gym with her today, but didn’t pack my bags this morning. Whoops. I guess we’ll have to start going next week. The thought of sweating just didn’t sound very pleasant. Yuck. This holiday has been the worst. Clients are sending goody packages left and right, and coworkers are bring in trays of cookies and brownies. Not good.

Anyway, I guess I should get some work done.

Here’s the link to the album. There are a couple missing pages that I forgot to upload, but let me know what you all think!

Album is done

I worked on it all day yesterday. Spent maybe 30 hours on it total. We should’ve just paid the photographer to do it. But I had fun. I had to get it done by last night so we can place in the order in time for Christmas, but as soon as the order was done, I realized there was a page in there that shouldn’t have been. I had to cancel it, and was too sleepy to redo the upload. So now we won’t get it in time for Christmas, but hopefully we will for New Years. Poo. The total cost came up to 95 bucks (plus 20 bucks in shipping) after the discount in MyPublisher. There are a couple pages that I think I want to redo. I’m not really liking the layout. I hope after all the effort I put into this the quality of the albums are good. My plan was to order 2 more smaller albums for the parents. But I wanted to see how these came out first before ordering some more.

So we had our work parties this weekend. I think on Sunday morning I realized we only had 5 hours of sleep from Friday and Saturday night. I was pooped.

Anyway, we got our car back and it’s working! WOOOHOO.

Christmastime

I think we bought entirely too many gifts this year. I have three random gifts that I think we’ll either need to return or keep for ourselves. Whoops. I guess that’s what happens when you have no idea what to buy for people so you continue to collect stuff.

I got my car back yesterday in working condition. Woohooo! Finally. Anyway, I gotta finish this wedding album TODAY and place in order so I can get it by Christmas. Eekkk.

Letter of Complaint – What do you think?

Brian thinks I’m a freaking out too soon, but then again he has no balls, I think it’s the right thing to do at this point. Read what I’ve wrote below and let me know if it sounds fair.

I recently purchased a brand new 2006 VW Passat on November 4th, 2006. Just after 3 weeks and 1500 miles, I noticed that the air conditioning/heater fan was not starting immediately after the car was turned on. I took the car in the following week to have it checked out. After waiting 2 hours, the technician was unable to find the root cause and had to make a call to TechOne. I was told that I will receive a call the next day and that I would need to bring my car back in.

The next day I did not receive a call. I had to followup myself the day after and the advisor stated that the issue was a defective speed resistor. The part was ordered, and I received a call the following week. I came in that night after receiving the call and waited another 2 hours for the speed resistor to be replaced. Upon driving the car home, I noticed that the issue was not resolved. The fan still did not start automatically. The following day I drove the car around and noticed that the problem had worsened. The fan would take more than 10 sometimes 20 minutes before it actually started. That day, I called and made an appointment for that evening to bring the car in. Since then the service team still has my car and have no idea what the root cause of the issue is.

Unfortunately, this car has not performed well, nor was the service adequate. I am disappointed because I feel like my car is being worked on for an issue that appeared to be minor and yet there is no resolution. I do not trust that after the car is returned it will be in the shape that it was when I first brought it in.

I fear that the product I have purchased does not live up to par on what the VW corporation has promised its customers. I have had cars with over 100,000 miles and never once did I have an issue with them as this one. I fear that the car will continue to have problems; therefore in retribution I am requesting that VW will offer me a full extended warranty at no cost due to the uncertainty of the state of the car once it is returned back to me.

This is not a complaint on the service level that I have been receiving but rather a complaint on the competancy of your technical staff.

I look forward to your reply and a resolution to my problem, and will wait until the end of the week before seeking help from a consumer protection agency or the Better Business Bureau. Please contact me at the above address or by phone.
