First Dance Songs

We’ve been having many disagreements over this. Neither one of us wants cliche songs, but who cares, right?

So I’ve find 2 possible songs I like. What do you think??

  • You and I - Michael Buble because I like the lyrics and it’s different.
  • In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel… I like this one out of all the others. Brian would sing this to me over the phone along with his other sappy songs. I used to fall asleep to them. Hehe…

Rehearsal Dinner

I know this isn’t in my court, but I would like to make suggestions, only because these are popular rehearsal dinner locations. These all depend on location of the church too, I guess.

American - Eh, I got tired of looking. This one is tough, since it’s either a chain type restaurant or some upscale place.

I won’t do Asian, since I will be planning something separate for this. What, I dunno. I know that my parents were disappointed I didn’t incorporate anything Asian into the wedding. So we’ll likely have a big family type banquet Thursday night or Friday for lunch if time permits. If not we’ll do it Sunday for lunch before we leave for the honeymoon. (Dim Sum!!!!)

Dreams

Last night I had another strange dream. Well let me preface by telling my first dream. The first one I had several weeks ago was that no one showed up to my wedding not even my parents. I cried and cried.

Last night I dreamt that we were at our reception, and the coordinator there forgot about half the stuff we ordered. Secondly there were no cakes delivered. Third, none of us were dressed the part. I was so livid in the dream, I started yelling at her and demanding stuff. I almost made her cry. Then I woke up.

I think I had several other dreams over the past few weeks. I guess I’m just tired. Well it’s not like I’ve been going crazy planning stuff, because I haven’t. I’m just tired in general. I’ve been working out everyday after work. I guess that puts a tiny toll on my energy.

EDIT: I had another dream last night. Our DJ sucked. I know this won’t be true, but it was quite the awful dream. Stupid dreams. I HATE YOU.

Tipping

So to add on to our base cost, we also have to consider tipping. Here’s a guide that I found from The Knot.

  • Banquet Manager: $2-$3 per guest(total)(note-this tip is in addition to the service charge) (My Thoughts: WHY??? This amounts to about 300 dollars if we’re tipping $2 per person. Doesn’t she get paid enough by the country club??)
  • Waiters: $20 each (Manager will distribute) (I don’t mind tipping the waiters, but what’s the 18% service charge for anyway?)
  • Bartenders: $20-$40 (Same thing as the waiters)
  • DJ/Musicians: $20-$25 (Do we really have to tip if he owns his own DJ business. I’m fine with 20-25, but I read somewhere you have to tip 100+, what?)
  • Photo/ Video: 10% of the billing (NO way I’m giving my photographer $250 for a tip…are you NUTS!!!)
  • Attendants: 50cents per guest (What attendents are we talking about?)
  • Valets: 50-$1 per car (There will be no valet, there will be plenty of parking and people can park themselves)
  • Chauffeurs: 15-20% of the bill (I think we’re going to rent a towncar from Enterprise or something like that instead of getting a limo)
  • Hair & Makeup: 15-20% of the bill (I don’t mind tipping for the hair and makeup, since they make me look pretty)
  • Deliveries, Security, ect: $5-$10 each (this will include cake, florist, and whatever else is being delivered)

DJ Ralph

We booked our DJ services with DJ Ralph Polanco. He’s an awesome guy with a great personality, unlike the ones we’ve met or spoken to. His prices are very decent, although a little high for our budget he was able to accommodate us. Email me if you want more info on him. All the people on The Knot had rave reviews on him, thus that is how I found him. Yay. Now all we’ve got is a florist, church (my mom is working on that I think, but I want something closer to the reception site, so I dunno), and a veil, and tuxes. We’ll have to check out tuxes at Men’s Wearhouse, since so many people have been satisfied with them and the prices. Brian that’s your job, or do you want me to do it???

Bridesmaid Dress

raylia I found the bridesmaid dresses. I think. I’d have to get Julie and Yi to see if they like it. It’s the colors I’m looking for. I did find another one, but the dress was only one color (coral), and I was hoping for a two-toned dress. Anyway, you can find a picture here. The other one was also longer and much more formal than this one, plus I think it’s more of a prom dress than a bridesmaid dress. I’m not sure I want to go ultra formal for the bridesmaid’s dresses, it’s silly to have them stand out like that. Both dresses were 199. We’ll see. You can find the dresses at Whatchamacalit off Beltline and Preston. They moved from the Frankford location. We’ll definitely have to go check out their other selections. The store is like a giant formalwear warehouse. Too bad I’m stuck on having coral and fushia because their other selections are super cute. Anyway, what do you think?

On a side note, I hate how all these formalwear stores only carry samples. Why can’t we just go in an buy the dresses off the rack like department stores?
