		<description>Hey everyone....I wrote a while back in regards to the Addison Events center.

I had my wedding on February 14th, 2009 and it was absolutely beautiful!!

I was a freaked out worried bride because a year ago when I booked this place I was dealing with the recent managers James and Djuno (the scammers).   After hearing all the horror stories I was not sure what to do...but really wanted to have my reception there.  I stuck it out hoping that James and Djuno would come through for me and not scam me like she had many other brides.   

To make a long story short:   Susan and Henry (the new owners.managers)
found my info on a small paice of paper and just started calling brides because James and Djuno had taken all the records and so Susan and Henry had no idea who was booked and who wasnt.

So.....to the point SUsan and Henry took GREAT CARE of me and my husband in the planning stages, days before the reception and during.

The staff is excellent, the facilities are beautiful, IT WAS MY DREAM WEDDING on my TIGHT Budget!!

We had a seated dinner for 155 people and the food was great and everyone was fed on time and no one had to wait!

I would HIGHLY recommend this place to every bride....on a tight budget or large budget.    The place is already beautiful on the inside...you just need linens and chair covers and lots of candles!

--I used Solar Events for my linens-  They are extremely affordable and they have a great selection!!  Love them!

On my own I used Kelly Alexander Photography for all bridal portraits and wedding.   go to Kellyalexander.com.   My picture is on the front page sitting on the red couch!. :)  He and her husband are wonderful people and they take AWESOME pics!!</description>

		<description>My fiancé and I are on a budget. We’ve looked at several beautiful venues for our ceremony and reception all of which are outside our price range. The Addison Event Center was recommended by a co-worker that was a guest at a wedding that was held at the AEC.  When  I made my first call to the AEC I spoke to Susan to get preliminary information i.e. rental cost, catering cost per person, down payment etc… The prices that I was quoted  are in our price range. I sent my fiancé the link - told him to take a look and in the interim  I scheduled an appointment to view the facility.  My fiancé is very meticulous and thorough when it comes to researching a purchase. He is the kind to  pull consumer reports before making a decision. So no sooner than I sent him an email asking him to take a look at their site he sent me back this site with reviews. Needless to say the reviews are  extremely concerning. I called Susan back and told her about the site and what I’ve read. She was aware of the site and  very forthright and said that it is all true that this D’juana person and her husband were scamming brides. She said that she fired them back in June of 2008 and they’ve (Susan &amp; Henry) her husband have resumed control of the AEC. She did mention that they’ve been the owners for 4 yrs, but had allowed D’juana and her husband to fully manage the business.  She said that the police, Child Protective Service and disgruntled clients are all looking for them and no one is able to find them. That’s beside the point, I thought her honesty about the situation was positive. She told me that since they’ve taken over no problems  of this magnitude have occurred. I think I’m going to follow my intuition after meeting with them before I completely rule them out. Providing that my fiancé agrees.

My daughter just got married at the Addison Event Center, and while I should finally get some sleep, I couldn&#039;t do that until I let everyone know just how absolutely fabulous everything turned out. We did both the ceremony and reception at the center and it could not have been more beautiful! Henry and Suzan (the new managers) are the most amazing people I have ever met. From start to finish they took care of the whole evening. The entire staff at the AEC works incredibly hard and are extremely professional. The food was amazing! I can never thank them enough for the most wonderful memorable evening my daughter could have ever hoped for. If you are not sure where to have your reception, I can tell you with 100% certainty that the Addison Event Center is definitely the right choice!</description>

		<description>HEy you guys.....we were married at the event center on AUGUST 30 @ 1100 in the morning. we had our wedding and reception there. the center is under new management HENRY and SUSAN are WONDERDUL. like some of the other brides i too began to get nervous after we booked the center for our wedding and paid a deposit to Djuna. i tried to force her to sign a contract and she never would. i would call and call and never get a response. until three weeks before i called and SUSan answered the phone. she was so nice and explained that Djuna and her husband had been running a scam on brides. We trusted Susan and HEnry to take over everything and they did a wonderful job. She made sure everything was the way we wanted and i could not have been happier that morning when i arrived and saw how beautiful the place was and how friendly the staff was. my guests were extremely happy as well and had a great time. The event center is a beautiful place and with SUSAN and HENry in charge of everything now...you are guaranteed to have the most beautiful day of you life. Also the food was great tand if you can afford it have your guest greeted with ;butlers serving appetizers. Don&#039;t pass this awesome deal up....SUSAN and HEnry will take great care of you.

Suzan and Henry were VERY professional along with their staff...I could not find one flaw....keep in mind that I am VERY particular and picky! In the beginning, I did deal with D&#039;Juna...paid my deposit to D&#039;Juna by check, therefore there was no issue with questioning if I had paid or not. Common sense tells you to pay by check or money order when dealing with this amount of money so that the payment is traceable. When I had not heard back from D&#039;Juna....I called and Suzan answered the phone. She was very pleasant and we were able to meet and go over everything. EVERYTHING D&#039;Juna placed in the contract, Suzan honored. Even after seeing the news special with the &quot;upset&quot; bride, I still was very confident in Suzan and Henry. I truly feel that everyone should wipe the slate clean and give Addison Event Center another chance....as I have done so. I had an excellent experience!!!!They have very reasonable price.  The place is great and the people are extremely friendly and professional. They are there to make your event special and wonderful. I love their décor!!!! The guests felt very comfortable and I loved the fact that everyone had a great time. Thanks to everyone at Bacara that made my wedding so wonderful.

		<description>We had our reception on May 24th and everything turned out great. Djuna really pulled off a nice event, and we have no complaints now that is all said and done.

Having said that, Djuna is impossible to contact (phone or email) and she was never on time for meetings, if she showed up at all. But, she was very nice and helpful when she did show up.

We didn&#039;t get much attention until the 2 weeks before the event. If you expect a hands-on, organized wedding coordinator to help you plan the event, then you should go somewhere else and pay the big bucks.

Overall, the place is very cheap and the food is good. We liked purchasing our own alcohol, we picked out the wines we liked and got them wholesale.</description>

		<description>My event was CANCELED at the Addison Event Center 2 days (on thursday) before my event (on saturday).

 

What Happened:

 

Well my event date of June 21, 2008 has come and gone BUT it was held at THE RADISSON HOTEL in Dallas . 

 

A month before my event I tried constatly every day to contac D’juna so that we could meet and set a menu and the lay out for my event. All I ever reached was her voicemail that was ALWAYS full. At one point the phone was even disconnected. I continued calling hoping the disconnection was an oversight in payment to the mobile company. 

 

A day later or so the service was on again. I continued to call and get her voicemail. I was trying their cell phone numbers, a 3rd and even a 4th phone number every time. I did manage twice to leave a message with a lady at the 4 th number who gave me the impression she had no clue who D’juna was and I did manage to leave 2 messages with James the husband/cook for D’juna. He assured me she would return my call and nothing. Once he even set an appointment up for me and D’juna and she never showed up or called. I never received any return calls either to any of my messages. 

 

I finally decided to drop by the location on Monday , 6/16/08 , and I did speak briefly with James, the husband, because he said he was on his way out to pick up D’juna because she had been in an accicent Sunday night. He said we could meet the following day, Tuesday,06/17/08. I told him I would be there at 12:20pm. He DID NOT SHOW UP for the appointment. Carolyn their assistant was there and I left her my information for the menu and she said she would pass it on to James because she had no say in any of the decisions. I asked if we could have practice at the center on Wednesday,6/19/08, at 6pm. and Carolyn said she would be there to let us in the door. We showed for practice as scheduled but still no response on the menu for my event and still James was not available. 

 

And Then : 

 

I received a call from James on Thursday , 06/19/08, at about 11:00am asking me if I was sitting down and not to react until I had heard him out. He told me in the next breath that there had been a mistake when booking my event and that I had been double booked( I booked my event Nov. of 2007) and the other event had been booked a year and a half in advance so that event took priority. He said he was very sorry but I no longer had a ballroom to have my event. He said he had talked to the people next door at the Baccara and that I could have my event there from 5 - 8pm. I advised that was not a posibality because my event was scheduled from 6:30 to 12:30am. and that i didnt even get out of the church until about 5:15pm and would not due. He said he was sorry about the mix up but that I would have to find another place for my event.


He said he would refund me the payment for the ballroom and that he would still cook the buffet for my event. I advised I would be needing my money to book another hall in such short notice and that I needed to pick it up this same day. He said that would not be possible as he would have to go to his bank in Denton , and that friday would be better. I said ok and that I would be there in the morning.


Friday came and I called to let him know that I was on my way and that I would have my brother pick up the food on saturday , he paused and said that he thought he was cooking the dinner in exchange for the money paid . I told him thats not what you told me . He said there must have been some misunderstanding in communication and that he could do either/or but not both. I told him I needed the money for the other ballroom and that I would be there shortly , He paused and said that he couldn’t that morning and to come by on saturday. I told him that was not exceptable and that i would be there to pick up my money. He had already put me off once and was not going to again. He said fine. I arrived at the center and he emediately handed me my money but said was short $50 because he didn’t have change for $100. I said no worries because I have change. He then proceeded to say he was sorry and I left.


I found a ballroom for my event 6 hours later but I should not of had to do so. Plus having to endure the stress of finding another location in such short notice is not what I had in mind when I started planning my event a little over 6 months ago.


I hope this situation is insightful to you and anyone else that is looking into the ADDISON EVENT CENTER for their wedding or quinceanera.
