Possible Reception Sites

All this initial planning is overwhelming. I actually haven’t planned or confirmed anything, but the thought of it is just stressful. We should just elope. I wouldn’t mind a Hawaiian wedding.
Anyway, I’ve been leaning towards Southfork Ranch for the reception. I believe Southfork is more Brian’s style. It’s the house where they filmed Dallas. I’ve never seen any of the shows, but it is a nice place to have a wedding. It looks laidback.
If it works out, I will want it there. However, if I happen to find someplace better between now and September, that would be fine.
I looked at the Nana Grill but the menu is pretty expensive and oddly priced. It would be the ideal setting though. 40th floor of the Wyndham Anatole Hotel… magnificent view of the city. One can only dream… Unfortunately, Brian won’t approve of this place…the menu consists of stuff like roasted squab and caviar. I just like the setting…
Another possibility would be Stonebriar Country Club, but I just find that venue boring, even though I’ve never been there or seen it, I just feel like a country club setting would be mundane. However, I think they’re more lenient about catering, etc. I just find it boring. Stonebriar is in Frisco, and according to some people at work is known for having a nice golf course. Brian might like that. This is second on the list of venues.
The last possibility is the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine; however, it’s too popular and possibly too expensive. Plus it’s in Grapevine, which to me, is kinda far. Also the word “gaylord” makes me giggle. I’m not sure I want to have my reception there because of the name.
We will see. It’s definitely too early to decide, and we won’t be able to make real decisions till January…
Update: I was talking to a co-worker that also just got engaged. The Gaylord Texan requires a minimum of $10,000 for the reception. Um that’s way out of our budget.

What in the world is squab? I want BBQ damnit, or at least food I’ve heard of!

This is not a hoedown. No BBQ. If you want BBQ, go to Dickeys!

No not Dickey’s, that’s silly.
